Product description

Marmocchio, which means "rascal," perfectly captures the mischievousness that characterizes this great beauty. This is "rustic elegance" in the glass, combining the elegant fruitiness of Sangiovese with the tannic character of Sagrantino. What an adventure! The Marmocchio has a dark ruby red hue and envelops the senses with luscious aromas of red and black fruits, underscored by delicate notes of cedar, leather, and forest floor. Graceful earthy undertones emerge on the palate, forming a harmonious interplay with the fruit, all elegantly supported by firm yet integrated tannins that lead to an incredibly long finish. The organically farmed vineyard for the Marmocchio is located at an altitude of 300 meters in Todi, Umbria, on limestone and clay soils. The Sagrantino (Umbria's ancient native grape variety) and Sangiovese Grosso grapes reach full ripeness at different times, so the two varieties were harvested independently. The grapes were hand-harvested, selected, and fermented and macerated in stainless steel tanks for 30 days. After skin removal, the finished wine was racked and aged for 15-18 months in 500-liter French oak barrels. It was then bottled and aged for another 15 months in the bottle. This wine is neither fined nor filtered.
