Donnicò is an aromatic and fruity dry red wine made from the Ulivello Nero grape variety. The wine has a deep ruby red color and unfolds a luscious bouquet of red and black cherries, subtle plum tones, and a delicate interplay of black pepper, chocolate, and vanilla. On the palate, it is elegantly restrained, offering a light, uncomplicated, and refreshing profile, underscored by velvety tannins. The Donnicò label evokes the fascinating history of Palazzo Tronconi and the remarkable encounter between Don Nicola Grossi and Giuseppe Garibaldi in 1849. The plot for Donnicò is located in the vineyards of Arce, Lazio, on limestone and clay soils. The grapes were harvested by hand, selected, and brought to the winery for spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine was then aged for 10 months in used concrete tanks before bottling. This wine is neither fined nor filtered.
