Aetneus Etna Rosso DOC 2019 75cl
Aetneus is a rare and delicate dry red wine that is extremely easy to drink. It is made from centuries-old vines with native Etna grapes – Nerello Mascalese 80% and Nerello Cappuccio 20% – and can be compared to Pinot Noir. This wine has a ruby red color and welcomes the senses with intense aromas of ripe cherries and strawberries, underscored by delicate notes of tobacco and dried herbs. On the palate, it is elegant and refreshing, with a sparkling acidity that reveals subtle notes of volcanic earth. Soft tannins enhance the overall experience, leaving a long and delicious finish. The vineyard for Aetneus is located at an altitude of 780 meters in Solicchiata, Contrada Muganazzi, on the northern slopes of Mount Etna. The vineyard consists of over 90-year-old vines and boasts sandy, volcanic soils rich in minerals. The grapes were harvested by hand, 80% destemmed, and pressed before fermentation in steel tanks with a 12-day maceration. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for at least three years (two-thirds in old oak barrels and one-third in new oak barrels). The wine was then blended and bottled for a further two years of rest and aging.
