Located in Todi, Umbria, is Agri Segretum, a hidden and charming estate winery led by Lorenzo De Monaco. This is a tale of a down to earth couple immersing themselves and cultivating local grapes. Lorenzo, originally from Italy, and his American wife, Eileen, were living in Boston with their children. Yet, they felt compelled to return to Lorenzo's native Umbria to bring their vision of a genuinely local project to life.

Upon relocating in 2008, Agri Segretum was born. Lorenzo and Eileen were determined to produce wines from local grapes and be as authentic as possible both to the land and the local culture. Even their wines have names specifically connected to the community lingo. Lorenzo crafts his wine in harmony with the land, using indigenous yeasts with minimal intervention.

Marmocchio, which means ‘rascal’, is a deliciously complex red of predominantly Sangiovese grapes, blended with a touch of Sagrantino. Cru HTH is 100% Sagrantino, and made only during exceptional years (approximately 500 bottles per vintage). After 24 months of oak aging, it’s rested and tamed for 7 years before being released. Cinino (little one), a delightful and effortlessly enjoyable Pet Nat, is available in two variations: a white made with Grechetto di Todi grapes and a rosé crafted from Sangiovese.
