Palazzo Tronconi is dedicated to revitalising ancient Italian vineyards and crafting biodynamic wines from forgotten and rare indigenous grapes. This relatively new and inspiring project is led by Marco Marrocco.
Doyle is an aromatic dry white wine crafted from the more common Sauvignon Blanc grape. This wine exhibits a golden yellow shade, unveiling an enticing bouquet of citrus fruits intertwined with spices. This delightful interplay extends to the palate, complemented by vibrant, crisp acidity.
The Doyle wine and label is dedicated to Sergeant William Doyle of the Welsh Guards, who led his men into the historic battle of Monte Grande in Arce during 1944. Today, the local Arce community cherishes memories of exchanging their wine for bread with the Welsh Guardsmen.
The plot for Doyle is located on the hillside vineyards of Arce, Lazio, on limestone and clay soils. The grapes were hand harvested, selected and brought to the winery for spontaneous fermentation, with some skin contact, using indigenous yeasts. The wine was then aged for 7 months in amphoras before bottling. This wine is not fined, nor filtered.
