Las Pedreras is the rising star in Spain’s most up and coming Sierra de Gredos, a mountainous region west of Madrid. Barbara Requejo Frutos is the young and gifted winemaker behind this boutique project, artfully displaying her expertise through the creation of elegant, high altitude wines.
Los Arroyuelos is a striking and delicate wine, full of freshness and showcasing tremendous layered complexity with rounded tannins. It’s a delicate Grenache, layered with red fruit, citrus notes and herbs that extend to a long finish on the palate.
This wine epitomises the essence of high altitude Grenache in the sub region of Alto Alberche Valley and has forever changed the way we think about and experience the Grenache grape.
The grapes were hand harvested from 25 different plots of old vines, averaging 70 years, on granitic sandy soil. Each plot was vinified and aged separately for 7 months, in different French oak barrel sizes and stainless steel, then blended. This wine is unfiltered and uses indigenous yeasts for fermentation.
