Pistus is a light and elegant volcanic red wine. It's made from the classic indigenous grapes of Etna - Nerello Mascalese 80% and Nerello Cappuccio 20%.
Fresh and fruity, hints of floral on the nose and with light tannins. If you like a Pinot, you'll love this.
The vineyard for Pistus is located at 700 metres altitude in Contrada Muganazzi, on the northern side of Etna. The grapes were hand harvested, with whole clusters crushed before fermentation in steel vats, which included 7 days of maceration. The wine was matured for 15 months in stainless steel, then rested in bottle for 3 months.
