Located on the right bank of the Dordogne River lies Vignobles Pierre Emmanuel Janoueix. Led by Pierre Emmanuel Janoueix, this is a boutique winery specialising in Merlot within Bordeaux. The roots of this family endeavour date back to 1898, when Jean Janoueix, Pierre's great-grandfather, transitioned from wine trading to the art of winemaking.
Pierre Emmanuel initially charted a different course, pursuing electrical engineering in Paris. However, the allure of the vineyards proved irresistible, leading him to abandon his initial career and embark on his winemaking journey in the year 2000. More than two decades later, the depth and complexity of his wines are a clear reflection of his winemaking expertise
A consummate perfectionist and diligent worker, Pierre Emmanuel has orchestrated a complete transformation of the entire operation. He has overseen vineyard and winery renovations, and his unwavering commitment to sustainability has earned the high environmental value certification from the French Ministry of Agriculture.
Pierre Emmanuel’s vineyards are located in different areas of Bordeaux. Chateau Pierhem, in Pomerol, produces a complex 100% Merlot wine from 60 year old vines, brimming with red fruits, coffee, tobacco and fine tannins. La Bastienne, Montagne Saint Emilion, is 100% Merlot from 50 year old vines, offering a lighter profile with black fruits, spices, and pronounced tannins.
A quiet achiever, Pierre Emmanuel’s wines offer a truly individual expression of Merlot, to enjoy now or lay down for some years.
